Benjamin Muhr - Lighting Designer
I was born in Munich and spent parts of my early life across Germany and in Chicago. After having carried out a formation as a light and sound technician, I started to work freelance all over Europe and focused especially on theatre and contemporary dance projects.
In 2007, I came to Luxembourg during the European Capital of Culture to work as a lighting designer with choreographers such as Sylvia Camarda, Annick Puetz and Gianfranco Celestino. I also took part to the Danz Festival Letzebuerg and started working with dancers in residence at Trois C-L.
Since then I kept working with artists in Luxembourg and greater region but also in many festivals including Perspectives Festival, Schicht-Wechsel Festival, Euroscene Leipzig, Danse à Lille, Atelier de Paris / Carolyn Carlson and London O2 Arena.
In 2010, I was chosen to be the lighting designer for the Luxembourg Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo. I worked then together with Yuko Kominami and Bernard Baumgarten.
More recently, I worked with Anu Sistonen during the 2010 FullMoondance Festival in Finland as well as for her new creation „ImageX“ at Op der Schmelz / Dudelange in March 2011.
